Cotton candy

Salford 9th April 2017

a sweet poem for the color your world challenge by inkdropk

whispy wires of candy

softly rising into a soft tornado

gathering in pace as it goes

sensational sugar collides

against the  tornado catcher

fallen to be reused again

whisps gather pace

collecting speed and sugar

as a sweet cirrus begins to grow

floating sweet dreams

fly high in the air

caught by the ice cream man

man looking in has to use great skill

to gather the coloured pink cloud

to create smiles on waiting faces

Tan

To some,

an absolute must – turning nut – brown

nicely under the summer sun

Toasting under the sun’s rays

As they enjoy a ice cool drink by the

nautical waters

To others, an unachievable goal

As they sit – in the sun – for a few seconds

Next minute – despite the sunblock – red as a lobster

Typical reaction to the sun’s appearance ?

Adolescent Teens hitting the beach towels

Noon till sundown

Turning occasionally

As they lie on sunloungers listening to tunes

Next to the swimming pool

Taken after the damage is done

A dose of soothing after-sun (or calamine)

Next morning’s sun worship – spent covered up

Calm

Calm

Crowds sit in seaside hotels

All in a state – the beach is closed because of winds

Local kids cant fly their kites, say the lifeguards

Making the kids unhappy

Cause of the distress ?

All due to tomorrows weather forecast,

Look up to the air, at the clear blue sky

Maybe they’ve got it wrong – stop fretting.

Cold air’s coming in from the sea

And they say it’s going to whip up some huge waves

Look at the sea tonight though – gently lapping at the shore

Moments of sheer peace as you sit watching the moon

Cheerful thing is – there’s still chance to fly

At the local park across the way

Lets not get distressed, we can return to the beach tomorrow

Maybe, we could have some pancakes on our way home
