Peculiar

Peculiar

A reflection.

Sat a cafe bar on a greek island, enjoying fish and chips

taking in the breeze off the azure blue sea and

observing the comings and goings of the day – when

reactions are heightened by two feathered locals

kept company down the marble path by their owner

! i’d tell you what they were – but i reckon you would guess!

Island

Island

If you were

Searching for an idea of paradise – this is it

Lovely long white sands surrounded by azure blue sea

As for food, fish crustaceans and coconuts a plenty

Note – looking for an alternative ?  you’ll have to go exploring on a raft – there’s

Deserted waters surrounding this place – Nothing for miles

Message in a bottle – 2

Salford, 21st July 2017

Remember that piece I wrote about the message washed up in a bottle ?  I’ve given it a little thought and wrote what might have been on that rolled up paper!

Messageinbottle

Sat, as I am
on this deserted isle

I’m sending this message
to make someone smile

Being stuck on this island
isn’t much fun

even though theres blue skies
and lots of sun

so I’ve drawn you a map
and hope you might see

to send out a crew
to rescue me!

Honeycomb

18th May 2017

A San-San poem – Origins rooted on the Greek Island of Crete

Honeybee.jpg

On holiday by a grecian water

I saw a flying insect having some tea

it flew for the pollen from flower to flower

occasionally passing a grecian sun or daughter

it was happy to pass through the flowers this bee

till it was time to head for home

where it spend a passing hour

away from the sun making honeycomb.

Treasure

Treasure

Taken from merchant ships, by

Rascals of the seven seas

Every pirate worth their salty sea legs

Admires the prize of jewels, silver and gold doubloons

Some keep their precious horde hidden

Under tropical sands , deserted shores – only

Revealed many moons later by a younger

Explorer, following the pirates charts and maps

My little island

location : brain and spinal injury centre, salford

18th October 2015

welcome to my little island….

its a follow on to last weeks island exercise where we’d landed and set up a community on the island.  After landing and knowing nobody was coming to get us, I reckoned on small settlements made from wood and bamboo, and the solar cells from the rescue boat could power vital equipment (!)

we would live off what we would catch produce and forage, fish, crabs fruits and berries.

Back filling the well

Hi Folks – Anybody expecting a post yesterday, I do apologise – I slightly overdid it and ended up taking to my bed earlier than I first thought I would!

Note to self – don’t go Marching off to the computer store for an Ipad Cover after an Afternoon Shift at the war Museum….

Anyway, here’s my report on Tuesdays Memory Workshop….

What’s your idea of Utopia?

As part of an Activity to engage an open mind we had Carte Blanche to create our own perfect world

island-clipart-cliparti1_island-clip-art_02

Think of Sid Meiers Civilization Game but on Paper…

we had to answer questions on

What the climate and landscape would be,

What kind of Animals and Plants were on this world

What people were like on this island

What they did for fun …. (Careful..!!!! Inky)

Where they worked

What kind of Place was it like

By the end of the session – i’d created my own little island community, with sandy beaches, Tropical flowers and fruits , full of colourful flowers and surrounded by cocoa trees clear blue seas with lots of fish and plots for vegetables – so we could have fish and chips –

I resisted the temptation to go all wonka and have Lemonade lakes and edible grass – maybe that’s an idea for another island! :))

Islands

Daily post prompt – Island

No man is an Island – that’s how the tale goes

But for one hour, around sunrise on Alykanas Beach, I truly was at home on this little Greek island – Zakynthos

We’d gone there on a family holiday.  The plane had landed late that night, so I let Mum and Dad and the rest of our party have an extended nap in the family apartment.

There was no one there – just me, the sea and an occasional sea bird.

The rock I was sat on, led directly to the path of the apartment.

So as the waves lapped against the shore, I saw the morning sky turn from dark into light.

And upon taking the picture below, I popped my toes into the coolness of the Mediterranean sea.

Happy Place

It’s got to be the beach at Alykanas – Zakynthos

When the time is right – it’s perfect.  Azure blue seas that you can see the local wildlife in if you dip your toes in the water,   Gentle breezes to take the heat off from the Ionian sunshine and then there’s the fish that go swimming around your feet.

On a Clear Day – you can get a wonderful view of neighbouring Kefalonia.

It always raises a smile with me.
