I’ve returned to this pic i took at the local art gallery, currently displaying some pieces from the Pilkington factory, once of Salford, now St. Helens.
Of course , every item has its price tag. There is a replacement value for Insurance purposes….initial cost of production….blah blah.
The artist will want their recognition of course, the irony ? Their work’s rises upon death – thanks to some VERY Shrewd investors.
But the cost to replace the artwork – is priceless – for it would take a great deal of time, skill and blood sweat and tears to replace the artwork behind the glass panel. And once the artisan has passed, you could copy his/her work…but it would never match the original….it would be a pale imitation
drop it….and it might get its value back….buried and recovered decades later….
So, with that in mind – here’s a pic of a local northern landmark from a local artist (you might know him, you’re reading his stuff!!!) – lets call it £10 for a print
A Blue was used called Cerulean to create the watercolor on this post, it was added neat to create the sky and then watered down to create a light blue for the sea.
Berry Red was applied in this picture of two jam tarts. I like the way it brought out the colour of the Raspberry Tart but also the Shadow on the Lemon Curd Tart
Another Blue was applied to bring out the colour of the night sky in this shot of a set of Lamps in front of a waterside hotel. Midnight blue was applied after the shot was taken to bring out some of the lighter colours, such as the light on the waters reflection.
A Berry Bush in the Enchanted Garden at the Brain and Spinal Injury Center in Salford, i’ve put this on here because of its red-purple “Blackberries” and that kind of classes it as a blue!
theres one side of my bedroom that has become my own private gallery.
mickey mouse meets mountainous hills
one wall, contains a print of a local salford artist, joe Coffey…the connection tween the artist and myself ? We went to school together. I went to one of his shows at the community art gallery in Langworthy…a short distance from where I live . We had a brief reunion whilst I saw his works and I picked up a signed print to help an old mate out.
the pic … tranquility…. is of the irwell and one of the green areas (possibly peel park) that it runs alongside
i picked up the next pic as I picked up some bedroom shelves in Warrington. It’s a print of a Walt Disney cartoon…black and white…vanilla washed….mickey mouse and his dog Pluto, it raises a smile when friends come round.
The third pic…isn’t really a pic…it’s a mirror…but it’s embossed with a favourite character of mine…that bouncy friend of Winnie the Pooh…Tigger….I look at him as my reflection comes back….art with a dual purpose.
a picture of a mountain side by the artist c.todd overlooks the place I’m currently writing at. And this is a real painting. I picked it up from a craft fair in one of the local towns, and is of a mountainside, could be the Lake District, could be the peaks…could even be Japan..i like the colours that run through it
