going uphill on the

rocky sharp surfaces of a cliff

arms stretched out, reaching for the nearest

safe hand hold, clinging on as you ascend to the

pinnacle….enjoy the view when you get there

Out of this world

Out of This World

Taken root

On a spot of earth

Alien invader starts to feed

Devouring the water below

Some plants sit, aghast as they watch

The alien eat up their food like an unwanted guest

Others, are more philisophical as

Over time – the alien and his cohort – will be

Lifted, and thrown away – or (if edible) eaten

autumn leaves (p) Brian F Kirkham 2017

The change in seasonal colour came quickly this year,

some might say the bright sparks at the weather office got caught out

summers hand seemed to draw into the autumn days

and while winter popped up in the chill of the western wind

the leaves stayed green for a week or two more

till one day the trees said they’d had enough

and the leaves 🍁 turned like traffic lights from green to red

taking on tones from amber to orange, from red to brown ,

toughening up to face the hardness of winter

as they dropped to the floor below

and the welcome to walkers travelling on this carpet ?

the crunch of leaves 🍁 saying hello 👋

An original piece of poetry by yours truly, It originally appeared on the Pages of but i’ve added a few lines and decided to share the new copy with the wordpressors – Hope you like it

His multi layered coat
is on his back
kinder scout area….
can expect an attack

He’s been planning this trek
out to the Peaks and his
movement theirin for about
eight weeks

His bag is packed,
his lunch – made up
thermos and map
and his favourite cup

Warm woollen socks
(to keep out the cold)
Thermal Fleece
(more precious than gold)

Wallet and Keys –
In a very safe place
and Binoculars –
to observe the wide space

Penknife to pull out occasional stones
Notepad  to record thoughts, drawings and tones
Money in wallet for the Bus and his tea
and watch , so he’s back for his dinner early

Small First aid kit – in case of mishap
(he hopes wont happen – to this happy chap)
Doesn’t need a car, a boat or a bike
Just a strong pair of boots
He’s off on a Hike

A top of a

Small hill can feel like Mt everest to a small child

Conquering the challenge of

Elevating themselves so far, from

North South East and West – they can see all around them

Descending might take a bit longer – but first take in the view

Back of a Leaf

black-white-banner #C&BW

A Simple leaf , on the tarmac and gravel of the car park of #BASIC, the brain and spinal injury centre in Salford.

Fallen by the wind, or the passing of time with the coming of autumn, this humble leaf gave me another chance to create something special.

Been messing around with the monochrome as i continue in the quest to master my new camera.  i like this image because of the silvery veins came popping out – all from the press of a button of my new camera.
