Ode to an Orange

Featured image
A tale of an orange – from tree to plate
A Zesty little thing,
you sat there in the Spanish heat.
Soaking up warm summer rays
till the moon changed shift with the sun.
And slowly you turned,
to Orange from Green
(and occasional colours
appear in-between)
Hiding under the shade
of dark green leaves,
They stopped you ripening
in the height of the day

And each colourful segment you hold
bursts in the mouth
quenching the driest thirst
with juiciest flavour.

And at breakfast or snack time,
you are served to the guests.
In a Cafe where the visitors
are truly impressed.
